Cameron John scored a late equaliser for Doncaster to deny Russell Martin his first league win as MK Dons manager.
Alex Gilbey’s superb strike fired Milton Keynes ahead early in the second half only for John to deny them a much-needed league victory.
Doncaster had enjoyed the better of the attacking play in what was an error-strewn contest at the Keepmoat.
Kieran Sadlier twice had goals ruled out for offside while Alfie May and Ben Whiteman drew fine saves from Dons keeper Lee Nicholls.
At the other end Seny Dieng produced a spectacular save to keep out a fine strike from Gilbey in what was a taste of things to come.
MK Dons took the lead in the 51st minute when Gilbey latched onto a lay-off and curled a wonderful effort beyond Dieng from 20 yards.
Doncaster grabbed the equaliser in fortunate circumstances in the 85th minute.
A corner to the near post was blocked but the ball ricocheted in off John to draw Rovers level.
Max Watters went close to sealing a dramatic win for Rovers but hooked wide.
