Manchester United made it two wins on the bounce with a 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Saturday.
Roy Keane believes that Manchester United’s win over Tottenham wasn’t a big deal because of Spurs’ mentality. United sit in fifth spot after beating Manchester City.
United beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad on Saturday to make it two wins from two against the ‘box six’ this week.
On Tuesday night, they beat Tottenham by the same scoreline at Old Trafford.
They now sit in fifth place, five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
The win over City came as a shock to many, with the champions needing to win almost every game from now on to catch league leaders Liverpool.
The table-topping Reds are now 14 points ahead of City after Saturday’s result, while City are in danger of being overtaken by Chelsea.
After a terrible start to the season, it seems that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is starting to turn things around at United, with three league wins from their last five games.
But Keane believes Tuesday’s result has been overhyped, as he indicated that Spurs aren’t on the same level as City.
“I said before the show, I don't think beating Tottenham at home was a big deal,” he said on Sky Sports.
“Spurs, we know their mentality. But beating Man City can only given the players confidence.
“The players have been criticised a lot and today we need to take our hats off. They were outstanding.
"It was a Manchester United performance. The way they managed the game, the blocks, it was brilliant.
“For me that's what Manchester United is all about.
“But they have to do is consistently and they do need a helping hand and hopefully they get that."
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer praised his side for the performance.
“I have seen the improvement since I came," he said.
"We have had to reshape the squad, change the culture, change the way we want to play.
“You can call it counter-attacking but that sounds negative. For me it is quick, attacking, flowing football with the right intent.
"There is no intention to take it back to the keeper. We have players with pace, quality and skill.
“I wouldn't want [Dan] James, [Jesse] Lingard, [Anthony] Martial and [Marcus] Rashford running at me.
“We’ll remember this, we were playing against the best team - arguably - in the world.”
