Zain Westbrooke fired Coventry up to fifth in Sky Bet League One following a battling 1-0 win at home to Lincoln.
Midfielder Westbrooke’s first-half strike proved the difference between the two sides as the Sky Blues ended a run of three league games without a win.
Jordan Shipley rifled a shot over the crossbar as Coventry started brightly, before Liam Kelly fired wide of the left upright.
Skipper Kelly went agonisingly close to putting the home team ahead but his shot was well-saved by goalkeeper Josh Vickers.
Liam Walsh shot over the crossbar from distance as Coventry forced the pace – and they were rewarded soon after when Westbrooke fired them into a 32rd-minute lead with his clinical strike.
Vickers could only parry Kelly’s rasping drive and Westbrooke pounced for his first goal for nine games and his fourth of the season.
Shipley came close to doubling the lead just before half-time when he shot wide, before Vickers pulled off a fine fingertip save to tip Kelly’s dipping effort over the crossbar.
Harry Anderson had a shot charged down for the visitors, but the hosts went close through the impressive Kelly and Matt Godden.
Walsh shot wide late on for Lincoln, but Coventry held on for maximum points.
