West Ham have made a decision on sacking manager Manuel Pellegrini, after the Hammers’ latest defeat to Crystal Palace, with David Moyes in the frame to take over at the London Stadium.

West Ham United could sack Manuel Pellegrini if he fails to impress the Hammers hierarchy over the next two league matches. West Ham face Leicester City at the London Stadium on Saturday, before heading to Bournemouth on the following Wednesday.

Pellegrini has come under increasing amounts of pressure in recent weeks.

Speculation surrounding his future has continued since the start of December, coinciding with a downturn in form.

West Ham have fallen to 17th in the Premier League table, and are now just one point above the relegation zone.

Despite their win over Southampton earlier this month, the Hammers have now lost three of their last four games.

West Ham chiefs are expected to review Pellegrini’s performance as manager after the next two fixtures, according to The Times.

Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester head to the London Stadium on Saturday (5.30pm), with the Foxes losing their last two matches.

The Hammers then head to the south coast to take on Bournemouth, in what’s likely to be considered a six-pointer.

The Cherries are just one place about West Ham in the table, having played one more match.

If Pellegrini fails to impress the board, he’s likely to be sacked with half the season still to play.

David Moyes is already the leading candidate to take over from Pellegrini, after he successfully steadied the ship two years ago at West Ham.

West Ham toyed with the idea of appointing Moyes last month to replace the current boss.

But, some members of staff at the club wanted to give Pellegrini a chance to turn the team’s fortunes around.

The West Ham board have been hesitant to sack Pellegrini, with the club preferring to wait until the end of the season before making a decision.

If the team’s current run of form continues, however, they appreciate that they’ll have to make a decision.

Pellegrini admitted that the next two games are crucial - especially their home fixtures.

"They’re] very important because our away performance is not bad, but our home performance is bad,” said Pellegrini.

"You can not have just one point from the last 15.”

West Ham haven’t won at home since September, and the manager said the team must work to improve their form at the London Stadium to stand a chance of moving up the table.

"That is what we have to improve,” he said. “We have lost too many points at home and won just one of our last five games there.

"We have to play two in a row at home and start by beating Leicester, a difficult game and a good team. Our team is in a moment where they are not playing bad but we must be more concentrated in defending.”
