Cooper sees point as scant reward for Forest Green’s strong second half show

Forest Green head coach Mark Cooper felt his side`s second-half performance at Crawley merited more than a point.
Cooper admitted it took stern words at half time to get his troops going in the Sky Bet League Two contest after a mistake by Liam Kitching led to top-scorer Bez Lubala giving the Reds the lead just before the interval.
Rovers clinched a point and a 1-1 draw when defender Jordan Tunnicliffe headed into his own goal following a cross by Nathan McGinley.
However Cooper believed it should have been more and said: “After the second half, I`m disappointed.
“In the first half we were nice and neat but on the back foot, in the second half we were a lot more aggressive. At half-time I said a lot; it was about desire.”
Cooper gave a debut to attacking midfielder Jevani Brown, signed on loan from Colchester, and aims to boost his attacking force further in the January transfer window.
He added:” I want bodies in. I’ve signed one and hopefully there will be another one or two.
“We have tried every combination of forwards. We are good tee to green, but once we`re on the green we are a bit passive.”
Crawley have steadily improved since John Yems replaced Gabriele Cioffi in early December and are now unbeaten in four games, with three successive 1-1 draws.
Yems is pleased there is more resilience about the side and said: “A point is a good point and it was a good honest football match.
“The crowd were brilliant and it is a privilege to be running the side for them.
“We would not have taken a point before the game as you want to win it. Everyone is trying their best and I can`t fault the effort and endeavour.”
After some recovery time, Yems is relishing the visit of Bradford next Saturday.
He added:” The lads are dead on their feet; they need to recharge their batteries.
“If you have ambitions to go further, then these are the teams you are going to love to test yourself against. ”
Yems has no plans to immediately sign new players and said:” I`m not interested in getting anyone in at the moment.
“I’ve a list of players but you don`t want to panic loan and the fans can see the lads are trying all the time.”
