Stevenage boss Graham Westley could hand on-loan winger Joe Leesley his Sky Bet League Two debut against Port Vale.
Leesley, 25, signed from Harrogate Town and featured in the EFL Trophy win at Bristol Rovers.
Goalkeeper Paul Farman should return having served a competition-specific suspension in midweek, but midfielder Tom Soares is banned following his red card in the 0-0 league draw against Colchester.
Captain Scott Cuthbert (hamstring) continues to be monitored, while midfielder Kelland Watts has been recalled from his loan spell by parent club Newcastle.
Port Vale will have Will Atkinson available after his contract was extended until the end of the season.
The former Southend and Bradford midfielder had been on a short-term deal following his move to Vale Park during October.
Club captain Tom Pope should be involved again after scoring in the 4-1 FA Cup third-round defeat at Manchester City, then sitting out the midweek EFL Trophy defeat at Salford.
Vale midfielder Emmanuel Oyeleke and defender Adam Crookes continue their recovery from long-term injuries.
