McCormack closing in on Northampton return

Northampton’s Alan McCormack is closing in on a return to action ahead of his side’s League Two clash with Morecambe on Saturday.
The midfielder rejoined training ahead of the Cobblers’ FA Cup third round tie at Burton Albion but was not fit enough to feature.
Manager Keith Curle will be without forward Harry Smith, who is resigned to a lengthy lay-off after incurring an ankle injury during Boxing Day’s Crawley clash.
Shaun McWilliams suffered a knee injury during the same fixture and is also set for a significant spell on the sidelines.
Morecambe are likely to field the reshuffled squad that ended their four-match winless run with a 2-1 victory at Port Vale on Tuesday.
New signings Ryan Cooney, Toumani Diagouraga, Jordan Slew and Adam Phillips have improved the fortunes of the struggling club and are probable squad members again.
New loan goalkeeper Christoffer Mafoumbi is available for the fixture, having joined the Shrimps on a half-season deal from Blackpool on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old will have to usurp first-choice keeper Mark Halstead to break into the starting XI, however.
