Preston pair Paul Gallagher and Andrew Hughes could return against Swansea

Paul Gallagher and Andrew Hughes are back in contention for Preston’s home game with Swansea.

Gallagher has not played for three weeks because of a groin issue, but the veteran Scottish midfielder has trained this week and boss Alex Neil says he has made “good progress”.

Former Cardiff youth player Hughes is set to rejoin the Lilywhites squad for the Sky Bet Championship clash after a month out with an ankle problem.

Hughes played over an hour of the midweek Lancashire Cup tie with Blackburn, but Billy Bodin and Tom Bayliss remain sidelined after picking up training-ground injuries.

Kyle Naughton is available for Swansea after missing last week’s defeat at Stoke through illness.

Naughton could replace fellow full-back Connor Roberts, who was forced off against the Potters with a shoulder injury and has not played a full part in training.

Wales centre-back Joe Rodon, who came on as a second-half substitute for Roberts at Stoke, is in contention to make his first start since October after ankle surgery.

Winger Jordon Garrick has returned to full training after a hamstring problem, but Mike van der Hoorn (knee) is still three to four weeks away from a return.
