Alan Forrest earned Ayr a 1-1 draw against former manager Ian McCall’s Partick Thistle side following a controversial penalty decision at Firhill.
Forrest rolled home the spot-kick in the 52nd minute after Lee O’Connor was adjudged to have taken down the winger as they ran into the box.
Brian Graham had given Thistle a deserved lead in the 33rd minute when he knocked home Joe Cardle’s cross from close range.
Cardle and Aaron Muirhead later escaped with yellow cards after clashing on the touchline. The Thistle winger appeared to elbow Muirhead after being rugby-tackled to the ground.
