Bruno Fernandes and his wife got a surprise from his new club Manchester United as the couple celebrated their daughter's third birthday yesterday.

United completed the signing of the Portugal midfielder, 25, from Sporting Lisbon as he signed a five-and-a-half year contract at Old Trafford in a deal worth an initial £46.6million.

Fernandes' wife Ana Pinho, also 25, is now in Manchester with the star and they had celebrations of their own as a family with their daughter Matilde turning three-years-old.

Man Utd marked the occasion by sending Matilde a pink unicorn cake which Pinho, who has over 23,000 followers on Instagram, posted a picture of online.

She wrote: "Thank you so much @manchesterunited. Matilde is in love with this cake."

Fernandes and Pinho are childhood sweethearts after meeting at a high school in Boavista in 2012.

They have been inseparable ever since and tied the knot in 2015.

But the footie ace famously had to work hard to win Pinho's affections.

In an interview with Voce na TV last year, she explained: "We were 16/17 years old. We met at school.

"At the time I was in Boavista and went to a nearby school. We fell into the same class."

She added: "I always said 'no', and then I gave in."

After the pair got married they welcomed daughter Matilde in January 2017.

She is now a devoted mum, with Instagram bio reading "Mama da Matilde" alongside a love heart.

The long-anticipated deal was finalised after Fernandes, who has 19 international caps, agreed personal terms and passed a medical.

Fernandes, a goal-scoring attacking midfielder, could go straight into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Wolves, with Nemanja Matic out through suspension.

Fernandes told the club's website, www.manutd.com: "My love of Manchester United really started when I used to watch Cristiano Ronaldo play and ever since then I have been a big fan of this great club.

"For me to now play for Manchester United feels incredible. I have worked hard to get to this moment and I can promise the fans that I will give everything for the badge to help bring us more success and trophies.

"A massive thank you to Ole and everyone at Manchester United for the trust they have shown in me and I can't wait to start to repay that on the pitch."
