PEP GUARDIOLA admitted he WILL be “a failure” if he does not win the Champions League with Manchester City.
The Spaniard has won five of the six domestic trophies available in the last two seasons, including a record 100-point Premier League triumph.
But the Etihad boss knows not winning in Europe will leave a black mark on his CV.
Guardiola, whose team face Real Madrid in the last 16 this month, said: “Last year was an extraordinary one for us but people say ‘You didn’t win the Champions League’.
“That is why I will be judged if we don’t win it in my final period here — I will be a failure, I know.
“But I enjoy working with my players, they still win a lot of games.”
Despite trailing Liverpool by 22 points, City are still chasing a Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup treble.
Ahead of today’s clash at Spurs, Guardiola added: “Obviously it is a perfect season when you win all the titles.
“I am proud of my team. We won the first title with the Community Shield and we are in the Carabao Cup final against Aston Villa.
“Winning the league won’t be far away for Liverpool, but they’d be champions in Timbuktu, Australia and everywhere.
“We are in a good position to qualify for the Champions League and in that we face the kings of the competition.
“But we will, of course, not just be judged on the way we play but the titles we win. That is the truth.”
