Ten-man Burton hold on for point against Gillingham

Ten-man Burton held on for a hard-earned point from a goalless draw with Gillingham at the Pirelli Stadium.
The Brewers had to play the final quarter of the game a man light after former Leeds youngster Oliver Sarkic picked up a second yellow card for a foul on Connor Ogilvie as Albion tried to launch a swift counter-attack.
A pretty forgettable first half had few highlights with both sides struggling to seriously test the opposition goalkeeper.
John Brayford and Sarkic both saw efforts deflected off target for Albion and Matthew Willock
and Jordan Roberts suffered a similar fate when they got in and around the Burton penalty area.
John Akinde was denied a goal after 54 minutes when a deep cross into the box picked him out but his header was straight at Kieran O’Hara who did well to save on the line.
Albion almost nicked it with Brayford’s back post header from a corner but Gillingham also went close in stoppage time with Tom O’Connor rattling the crossbar with a rising drive.
