Chelsea set to beat Barcelona, PSG and Tottenham to summer transfer for Ajax star

Chelsea is the most likely destination for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana. The Cameroon international would prefer a move to west London ahead of a number of other top European clubs that are tracking the 23-year-old.

Tottenham, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in signing Onana.

The goalkeeper has seen his value skyrocket over the past few years, culminating in his role in Ajax's successful Champions League campaign last season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly looking at replacement current No 1 Kepa Arrizabalaga, after failing to impress.

Given Kepa's poor form, and Frank Lampard's desire to find a new goalkeeper, Onana has set his sights on Chelsea, according to Goal.

Onana is very aware that goalkeeping spaces in Europe's top teams are scarce, and he'll have to remain patient if he were to leave Ajax.

But, with a place up-for-grabs at Stamford Bridge, the Cameroon international is interested in the move.

Chelsea would have to beat Tottenham, Barcelona and PSG to the transfer, however, added Voetbal Nieuws.

It was long believed that Onana would make an emotional return to Barcelona, after graduating from the world-famous La Masia academy.

But, Quique Setien has other priorities this summer, with finding a long-term Luis Suarez replacement his main objective.

Onana first joined Barcelona in 2010, as a young 14-year-old.

But, he was sold to Ajax in 2015, in a £135,000 deal, after seemingly failing to make the grade.

The goalkeeper made his name in the Netherlands, and was named the club's No 1 during the 2016-2017 season.

He has since made 171 appearances for the Amsterdam club, conceding just 151 goals during that time.

Almost half of all his matches have ended in clean sheets.

If Chelsea were to sign Onana in the summer, Lampard would likely have to part with at least £50m for the star.

They would also likely make a loss on the £72m Kepa, in what could be an expensive few months for the Blues.

Meanwhile, Kepa is currently being watched by his former club, Athletic Bilbao.

The goalkeeper was reportedly shocked by Lampard's decision to leave him out of Chelsea's Premier League match against Leicester City before the winter break.

He's now wary of losing his place as Spain's No 1, ahead of Euro 2020.

But, Kepa's £170,000-a-week wages are likely to be a problem for the La Liga club.
