Paddy Madden strike earns 10-man Fleetwood victory at Wycombe

Ten-man Fleetwood picked up a third win on the bounce as Paddy Madden’s tap-in handed them a deserved 1-0 win at Wycombe.
Madden’s effort was just reward for an excellent showing from Joey Barton’s side, his 16th goal of the campaign extending Fleetwood’s unbeaten run in Sky Bet League One to six matches.
The visitors should have been out of sight by the break, Ched Evans spurning two wonderful opportunities early on.
The Cod Army continued to dominate a lacklustre Wycombe side, with Danny Andrew cracking the crossbar before the interval.
Josh Parker provided the only moment of quality for the Chairboys before the break, letting fly from just outside the box only to be met by an instinctive parry from goalkeeper Alex Cairns.
Despite losing Evans to a straight red for an elbow in the face of Jason McCarthy and having Barton sent to the stand late on, the visitors continued to impress.
Madden, who had already been denied by a fractional offside call, wrong-footed Ryan Allsop to keep Fleetwood’s march into the play-off places firmly on track.
