Middlesbrough defenders Ryan Shotton and George Friend could both return to the squad for the home game against Luton.
Centre-back Shotton (knee) and full-back Friend (ankle) have recovered from long-term injury and hope to feature at the weekend.
Right-back Anfernee Dijksteel (knee) is expected to return to full training next week, but fellow defender Daniel Ayala (ankle) will be sidelined for a further month.
Midfielder Ravel Morrison made his first appearance in the midweek draw at Wigan and is hoping to retain his starting place.
Luton boss Graeme Jones is expected to choose from an unchanged squad following the midweek home win against Sheffield Wednesday.
Jones had a full-strength group at his disposal as the Hatters moved off the foot of the table with their second win in four matches.
Striker Danny Hylton stepped off the bench to make his first appearance of the season following a knee injury and could play a bigger role.
Callum McManaman is fit again following a recent hamstring injury and fellow forward Kazenga LuaLua is also among those pushing for a recall.
