Three goals in 11 second-half minutes helped Swindon to a 3-1 Sky Bet League Two win over Grimsby to keep Richie Wellens’ men top of the table.
After having the better of the first half with no reward, Swindon took the lead two minutes after the restart through when Jerry Yates tapped into an open goal from Eoin Doyle’s header back across goal from Diallang Jaiyesimi’s cross.
In the 49th minute it was 2-0 when Yates lofted a cross to Jaiyesimi whose header came back off the far post, hit Grimsby goalkeeper James McKeown and dropped in to double Swindon’s lead.
Luke Hendrie kneed into his own net on 57 minutes after Lloyd Isgrove’s cross evaded Luke Waterfall but rebounded off Hendrie and in to end the contest.
James Hanson nodded in a corner in the 59th minute to give the Mariners feint hope of a remarkable comeback, but Swindon saw the game out.
