Tranmere’s hopes of survival were boosted thanks to a 2-1 win at Blackpool.
Neil Critchley’s first home game in charge of the Seasiders was spoiled as Rovers’ third straight victory moved them to within three points of fourth-bottom Wimbledon.
Blackpool striker Joe Nuttall saw an early shot saved by Scott Davies after he had been teed up by Connor Ronan.
At the other end Morgan Ferrier scooped a shot over following Peter Clarke’s knock-down.
Blackpool’s Nathan Delfouneso saw a header strike the top of the crossbar before Rovers struck twice in the run-up to the interval.
Ferrier headed neatly into the corner as he rose to meet Calum Woods’ cross.
In added time, James Vaughan side-footed home from 15 yards after meeting Ferrier’s pass.
Blackpool halved the deficit just before the hour mark when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall smashed home from 25 yards.
Within a minute it was almost 2-2, but Davies palmed Ronan’s shot from even further out onto the post.
Liam Feeney missed two good chances to equalise for Blackpool late on.
