Jordan Henderson expected to return for Liverpool's meeting with Atletico Madrid

The latest speculation stemming from the media this afternoon suggests that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson will be fit to start the club's meeting with Atletico Madrid tomorrow night.

Liverpool vs Atletico

Jurgen Klopp's men are set to welcome Spanish giants Atleti to Anfield in a little over 24 hours' time, for the 2nd-leg of the Champions League Last-16 tie between the clubs.

The Reds will head into proceedings fighting to keep the defence of their European crown alive, on the back of a surprise 1-0 defeat in Madrid 3 weeks ago.

A hard-fought affair at the Wanda Metropolitano eventually saw Saul Niguez's 4th-minute strike prove the difference between the sides.

Liverpool have since also been in less-than-impressive form, having fallen to a further pair of defeats in their last 4 outings across all competitions.

Henderson boost

As such, while the Merseysiders did manage to get at least somewhat back on track with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth over the weekend, they will likely need to be much closer to their brilliant best if Klopp's men hope to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

And, as outlined above, Liverpool's hopes of doing exactly that have been handed a boost this afternoon.

As reported by the likes of the reliable Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph, Jordan Henderson is fit to return to starting duties tomorrow night.

Reds captain Henderson has been out of action since picking up a hamstring injury during the club's first-leg defeat at Atletico on the 18th of February.

However, the English international, who has played an absolutely integral role for Liverpool to this point in the campaign, is now set to return to Jurgen Klopp's engine room for the visit of Atleti, in a huge boost to the European champions' last-8 prospects:
