Manchester United are expected to be busy recruiting in the summer transfer window to further strengthen their squad.

Manchester United have been strongly linked with a potential move for Harry Kane in the summer transfer window, but Owen Hargreaves believes the club should be focussing their efforts on signing Jadon Sancho and Wilfried Ndidi. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had a clear vision on what he wanted to achieve from last summer's transfer window in strengthening the club's defensive line.

Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were signed with the duo impressing in their maiden season at Old Trafford.

Providing more firepower from midfield was his next objective in the January transfer window with the club eventually agreeing a deal to sign Bruno Fernandes.

The Portugal international has since been a revelation with United remaining unbeaten in the time the central midfielder has been at the club.

He was joined by a surprising move for Odion Ighalo but the Nigeria international has already scored four in just his three starts across all competitions.

The current season may now be postponed, with no set date on when it will resume, but United have already been making plans for their summer transfer targets.

While Ighalo has impressed since his move, the club are being linked with a move to bring in Kane from Tottenham.

Sancho has also emerged as a top target for United but a deal to sign both players could prove to cost in excess of ï¿¡200million.

Solskjaer has claimed Paul Pogba is expected to remain at the club for next season, which will allow the United boss to create a formidable midfield partnership with Fernandes.

But Hargreaves believes United should focus their efforts on signing a defensive midfielder like Ndidi, while naming Sancho as the one attacking player they should go after.

“It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality,” he told Premier League productions.

“If you can have a Jadon Sancho – they need a right winger – Sancho playing off the right would make a huge difference.

“[Jude] Bellingham is 16 or 17, he’s going to be a super player but you need someone right now.

“I think they need an Ndidi type, a defensive sitter. If you have [Paul] Pogba and [Bruno] Fernandes then I think you need a defensive one there.

“I think they also need a left-sided centre-back.

“They have [Victor] Lindelof, [Harry] Maguire, [Eric] Bailly but a left-sided centre-back would make a big difference.

“Harry Kane is the dream but they don’t desperately need him.”
