EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham feel Harry Kane won't be departing for Manchester United or Real Madrid this year

Tottenham are extremely confident Harry Kane will be staying at the club until the summer of 2021.

Before the coronavirus crisis decimated the football calendar, Spurs’ dismal Champions League and Premier League form had Europe’s elite poised to pounce for their England hitman.

It would have taken the best part of £250million to get him after June - yet the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus were all interested.

But Spurs now feel the chances of those sides splashing a world-record fee on Kane, 26, when the next transfer window opens, are pretty slim.

Huge financial losses in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic mean very few clubs will be willing - even if capable - of breaking the bank for a player this summer.

The future of another of the club’s Three Lions contingent, Eric Dier is less certain, however.

Dier, heavily linked to Man Utd 12 months ago, has just over a year left on his Spurs contract and has yet to agree new terms.

His desire to play at centre-back rather than as a holding central midfielder is thought to be key to negotiations.

Dier, capped 40 times by England, has been used in defence by Spurs boss Jose Mourinho this season.

But he wants to be sure that continues before committing himself to a new deal in N17.

Dier recently found himself in trouble after leaping into the crowd after Spurs' penalty shootout defeat to Norwich in the FA Cup.

Reports suggested one of the player's family members was involved in a scuffle in the stands before the incident.

"I don’t think that belongs to the game. The game was a fantastic representation of the FA Cup, but I cannot run away from the question," Mourinho said afterwards.

"I think Eric Dier did what we as professionals cannot do but when someone insults you and your family is involved, especially your young brother."
