Manchester United are set to sign a striker in the next transfer window and have yet to make a decision on Odion Ighalo's future.

Manchester United have identified four transfer targets as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks to strengthen his attack in the next transfer window. A new forward to lead the line is high on the agenda at Old Trafford following the departure of Romelu Lukaku last summer. Odion Ighalo arrived on a loan deal in January but a permanent decision has yet to be made on his future.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is working through a shortlist of strikers ahead of the transfer window reopening when the 2019/20 campaign finally comes to an end.

Erling Haaland is among the targets, according to the Evening Standard, with Solskjaer actively monitoring his situation.

Haaland only joined Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January but is already being linked with a move away after a blistering start to life with the Bundesliga big boys.

Solskjaer is a big fan having worked with the teenage target man at former club Molde.

Haaland snubbed a switch to Old Trafford in January and United’s failure to secure his signature has been made even more apparent thanks to his record of 12 goals in 11 appearances for Dortmund.

Despite missing out, Solskjaer has admitted he is pleased by his fellow Norwegian’s fine start at BVB.

“I normally never comment on opposition players, but I’m delighted for Erling,” Solskjaer said in February.

“He’s a top boy and a fantastic kid you want for the best for. He’s started fantastically for Dortmund. It’s brilliant for Norway to have a striker who can score like that.”

Harry Kane is also under consideration after the Tottenham icon fuelled talk of a move away by recently saying: “I love Spurs and always will love Spurs but it’s one of those things.

“I’ve always said if I don’t feel we are progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I’m not one to stay there for the sake of it.

“I’m an ambitious player. I want to improve, get better and become one of the top, top players.

“It all depends on what happens as a team and how we progress as a team. So it’s not a definite I’m going to stay there forever, but it’s not a ‘no’ either.”

Haaland and Kane are joined on United’s transfer shortlist by Lyon hotshot Moussa Dembele and RB Leipzig hitman Timo Werner.

Chelsea have also been linked with Dembele while a move to Liverpool has been touted for Werner.

A decision on a permanent deal for Ighalo, who has scored four goals in eight appearances, has yet to be made but he would cost £15million to keep from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua.

Speakijng to Elegbete TV, Ighalo said: “There is no offer on the table yet because the season is still on and I'm yet to finish my loan deal.

“I don't just take decisions alone in my life. I have a principle and I have a guideline for everything I do. I always pray to God to direct me.

“I have seen so many tweets about this. I have seen so many people going crazy, (saying) 'go back to China', some say stay with Man United.

“Have you seen me say a word? I don't have anything to say. When the season's finished and I get two offers from the two teams, then I will sit and think about it, pray about it and whatever God says I should do, I will go with that.”
