MANCHESTER UNITED star Marcos Rojo has landed himself in deep water -after breaking strict coronavirus lockdown rules on several occasions.

The Argentine defender was caught smoking and playing cards with friends in his native country, where he is on loan at Estudiantes.

The left-back, 30, returned to Buenos Aires during the January transfer window.

A video has emerged which shows Rojo at a friend's house smoking.

He is also playing cards with pals until the early hours.

Argentina have also introduced strict lockdown measures to cope with the pandemic.

The lockdown in Argentina has already been extended until May 10, and could be stretched beyond that as the South American nation does not have the health system to cope with the crisis.

Rojo was due to return to United when the season ends as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to sell the former Sporting Lisbon player.

The defender started his career at Estudiantes in 2008 before a big-money move to Spartak Moscow in 2010.

This breach could alert Red Devils chiefs and they could fine the player.

Argentina, like the UK, have told citizens to stay indoors and not to be part of social gatherings of more than four people or just stay with family members in their own homes.

The country has also banned all commercial flights until September 1, so Rojo might not be able to return to the UK anyway until this autumn.

Rojo is the latest star to flout lockdown rules.

Man City and England star Kyle Walker ignored the coronavirus lockdown by hosting a three-hour sex party with a friend and two call girls in his flat. Walker later apologised for his indiscretions.

Arsenal's David Luiz was spotted enjoying a kickabout with pal Granit Xhaka in Southgate, London - with a dog-walker saying: "They were having a great time, not a care in the world."

England hopeful and Aston Villa star Jack Grealish crashed his car not long after a 4am party - and that came just hours after urging fans stay indoors during lockdown.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount apologised to boss Frank Lampard after being spotted having a kickabout in public with West Ham ace Rice.
