Official: Moussa Wague returns to Barcelona

Nice have announced that they will not execute their 10 million euro option to buy Barcelona right-back Moussa Wague, who had been on loan at the French club since January.

As such, Wague will have to return to Catalonia, with the Ligue 1 season having been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, yet it is unclear whether he will join the Barcelona squad on Wednesday to undergo the coronavirus tests.

Barcelona will now seek a new club for the 21-year-old, as he is not in Quique Setien's plans for next season.

Those in charge at the Camp Nou will try to sell Wague (he initially cost the club five million euros in 2018), but they will also consider loaning him out again.

Nice thanked Wague for his time with Patrick Vieira's side and highlighted his last contribution for the club, which was an assist for Kasper Dolberg in the Derby de la Cote d'Azur victory against Monaco.
