Solskjaer confirms Man Utd looking at transfers for title challenge

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits the club could spend money this summer.

The Red Devils continued their unbeaten run with a draw against Spurs last Friday, keeping them in fifth on the Premier League table.

Asked how far away United are from challenging for the title in the 2020/21 campaign, Solskjaer said: "Obviously, City and Liverpool have set the standard to where it should be to win the league.

"We've developed over the season and now we've had a spell of 12 games unbeaten, but then you add Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford to that and you're thinking, 'yeah, we're not far away'.

Then quizzed on which areas he feels his team can improve in, the Norwegian added: "I'm very happy with the squad.

"But if there are any good deals to be made and players to make us better, of course we might have to spend some money.

"But the squad is great to work with and we're moving in the right direction. We're still not where we want to be in terms of [being] close enough to challenge for the Premier League trophy.

"It's one step at a time and hopefully we can challenge for the Europa League and FA Cup this season and for the top four, and then we can see where we invest for next season."
