Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson fumed at his players after their defeat against Wolves.

The Eagles, who were practically assured of safety after a run of four victories in a row between February and March, have now lost seven Premier League fixtures in a row.

Hodgson has seen his side score only two goals and concede 17 during the current period, and it seems as though his patience has finally run out after strikes from Daniel Podence and Jonny went unanswered.

Questions have been raised over the future of the experienced manager following their dismal run of form, but the rant at his players suggest that he isn’t going anywhere by choice this summer.

The 72-year-old was spotted giving his squad an animated lecture after another miserable performance, with his players looking dejected and almost guilty during the encounter.

The team were sat down inside a waiting area as they were ready to leave, and Hodgson walked around the room with an obvious purpose in the manor of an angry school principal.

Assistant boss Ray Lewington was watching on as the former Fulham, Liverpool and England boss made his grievances abundantly clear, with Jeffrey Schlupp seemingly in the firing line.

Hodgson insisted at the weekend that his players were not suffering from a lack of motivation, and he will be looking for a huge response in their clash against Tottenham on Sunday.

He said: "That's the worst thing. Those are the type of accusations that will be launched towards you.

"But in actual fact if you watch the games and people analyse them, I would defy them to say the results have been a lack of motivation.

"There have been lots and lots of things you could put a finger on, which have not helped us getting a result. Personally I don't think motivation has been a factor at all. In football there are chestnuts. That's the classic chestnut.

"When you lose or start to lose games, it's always you are not fit enough, you are not motivated enough, the team selection is wrong etc.

"They are just thrown out, often erroneously, but as a coach you have to accept it's thrown out there. You know as a coach it's not true but you cannot stop journalists throwing it out there at you."

Although some of the blame for the results will be pointed at Hodgson, Palace sit on 42 points with one match to go having been secured of their Premier League position for a while.

Palace could still finish as high as 13th with three points in north London, despite picking up less points than everyone but Norwich since the restart.
