INTER MILAN are plotting an audacious move for Chelsea superstar N'Golo Kante, according to reports.

The French World Cup winner, 29, has sensationally been linked with the Stamford Bridge exit door with boss Frank Lampard eager to raise transfer funds.

Chelsea have already spent big on Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech and Lampard is prepared to flog big names to help balance the books.

And according to Gazzetta Italia, Inter are confident they can land the midfielder with Antonio Conte keen to reunite with Kante.

The Italian managed the energetic ace for two seasons, winning both the Premier League and FA Cup.

But his transfer fee and current £290,000-a-week wages are likely to prove a big stumbling block in negotiations.

Kante still has three years left on his current pay packet and Chelsea are expected to ask for huge money to let him leave.

His season has been hampered by injury limiting him to just 20 league starts.

Conte is ready to revamp his squad this summer and spend big despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The gaffer wants two new midfielders including Brescia wonderkid Sandro Tonali.

Inter are expected to beat the likes of Juventus for the signature of the 20-year-old dubbed the new Andrea Pirlo.

And if they fail to land Kante, he will turn his attentions to Tottenham flop Tanguy Ndombele.

Spurs' club-record £65million signing has endured a miserable debut season in the Premier League having fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho.

Chris Smalling is also an option in defence after returning to Manchester United from his loan spell at Roma.
