Boca Juniors confirms coronavirus outbreak on its campus

In full preparation for the Copa Libertadores, Boca Juniors confirmed on Monday the appearance of a coronavirus outbreak on its campus, isolating its players and suspending training.

The Argentine club reported in a statement that last Friday symptoms compatible with COVID-19 were detected on the campus that is concentrated in a hotel on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. After swabs, the appearance of an outbreak of contagion was confirmed.

Boca did not identify those infected. Nor did he give an account of the number.

The state of health is excellent in all cases, waiting for the health and medical times for the soon return to activity, added the club.

As a precaution, Boca isolated the entire delegation in their respective rooms of the hotel in the town of Ezeiza, southwest of the Argentine capital, and training was suspended for 72 hours, after which new PCR tests will be carried out.

Boca is in the preseason to resume the Copa Libertadores on Thursday, September 17, against Libertad de Paraguay in Asunción for the group stage.

River Plate, the other Argentine soccer giant, is experiencing a similar situation after it was confirmed last week that one of the goalkeeper coaches was infected with coronavirus. This Monday the players were subjected to new tests to determine if they could leave the concentration or should remain isolated in a hotel.
