Zidane calls up Lucas, son of Santi Canizares, for Cadiz duel

Zinedine Zidane has included Lucas Canizares, son of former goalkeeper Santi, in Real Madrid squad list for their game against Cadiz at the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano on Saturday at 18:30 CEST.

Los Blancos' academy product will be at the French coach's disposal as the team's third goalkeeper after Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin as Diego Altube will be Real Madrid Castilla's starting shot-stopper in their game against Las Rozas on Sunday at 12:00CEST.

Altube trained with Castilla last week and for this reason Real Madrid, who strictly follow the anti-Covid-19 protocols, decided to leave him out of their squad for the match against Cadiz.

Canizares, who has already made his debut with Real Madrid Castilla during pre-season, has made the leap into the first team due to the absences of Toni Fuidias and Luis Lopez, who are not in a position to play this week with the latter being Altube's backup against Las Rozas.

Santi Canizares' son joined Real Madrid in 2014/15 at the age of 12 and will make the first team's squad 22 years after his father played for the last time with Los Blancos.

According to Real Madrid's official website Lucas is a 'comanding goalkeeper that transmits a lot of security in the sticks. He is good at one-on-ones and is commanding in air. He joined Real Madrid from Alboraya and brings reliability and hard work to the team.'

Lucas will share a dressing room with Sergio Ramos who was teammates with his father in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, although the two players didn't link up on the pitch in that tournament for Spain.
