Are Paul Pogba 's Real Madrid comments proof that things aren't right for the player at Old Trafford?

The Manchester United man put his foot in it once again this week, revealing his desire to play for Los Blancos while on international duty with France.

"Yes, all football players would love to play for Real Madrid. It is a dream for me, why not one day?" Pogba said.

Madrid look unwilling to offer the midfielder an escape route, with the covid-19 pandemic throwing a spanner in their transfer plans for the foreseeable.

But will Pogba seek an exit elsewhere? The signs may be pointing that way.

Pogba has struggled so far this season, failing to continue his fine post-lockdown form.

And the Frenchman could lose his spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to summer signing Donny van de Beek.

Pogba has also been moved deeper in midfield since Bruno Fernandes' January arrival, which he isn't too keen on.

According to the Independent, the former Juventus man 'hates' his new role.

And another hint that the player isn't happy came from France team-mate Kingsley Coman.

The Bayern Munich star thinks Pogba may be feeling the pressure.

"I know Paul," Coman told the Daily Mail.

"Football is a lot in the head and the way you feel. When we are together in the national team, I know he feels so good. I am not in Manchester with him, so I don't know how he is when he's there, but in the national team he plays free in his mind, he can use all of his qualities.

"Maybe the pressure is different. In his first year in Manchester, I think he was the best player.

"He had the most assists, I think, but people were still not happy.

"They bought him and he was expensive but he is not supposed to be the one who scores all the goals and provides all the assists. He is there to give balance."

Pogba was benched against PSG on Tuesday.

But the player insisted Solskjaer's plan and team selection worked in the French capital.

"We knew what awaited us [in Paris],” said Pogba.

“All the players were ready for this match — the result came as it should have come. They had chances, we also had some and we materialised. The result is positive.

"It [his substitution against PSG] was prepared. We had prepared well for the match.

“We know that they are very strong offensively, and we had to block that. Afterwards, we started especially well and we had chances. [We] managed to score."
