Mario Baudry: Maradona's death was avoidable

After the period of grief in Argentina following the death of Diego Maradona, there is now the inevitable fallout, with Mario Baudry, the current partner of Maradona's ex, Veronica Ojeda, claiming that the death of the iconic footballer was avoidable.

After Leopoldo Luque spoke to the media on Monday morning, making clear that he and his team did everything right in their care of the 60-year-old, Baudry took his own platform to contradict these claims.

"Luque and his team handled everything, Maradona's death was avoidable," Baudry declared.

"Luque is a good person but If I have the best Ferrari in the world and I give it to a five-year-old boy, he will destroy it.

"Diego fell out of bed a few days earlier and hit the right side of his head on the wall, but they didn't do any kind of test after that."

Further details were then proclaimed by Baudry, citing his current partner's experience of going to visit Maradona earlier in the week.

"On Monday, before he passed away, Diego told Veronica that he wanted to see her and she went, but there wasn't a doctor or anyone there," Baudry added.

"Maradona didn't even have a normal bathroom in his room, there was a chemical toilet like on a camp site. The room was very small, it wasn't the right place for Diego to be."
