Manchester United and Manchester City fans are scratching their heads after Pep Guardiola and Michael Carrick shared a long chat at full-time

Football fans are scratching their heads after Michael Carrick and Pep Guardiola shared a long hug and an intense chat after a drab Manchester derby.

Manchester United and Manchester City shared a goalless and lifeless 0-0 draw at Old Trafford in a game that lacked action at both ends.

And the main talking point for fans at full-time was the scenes on the touchline between the two opposing coaches.

Carrick and Guardiola shared a handshake and hugged, before they began walking down the touchline together with their arms draped over one another.

The former whispered something away from the camera, before both chuckled.

Guardiola then stops dead, looks at his feet and says something to Carrick which wasn't picked up by Sky cameras.

The Spaniard begins gesturing with his hand before the camera cuts to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the pitch.

"Since when is Carrick so tight with Pep?" questioned on one fan on social media.

"Pep and Carrick bromance," one noted.

"I’d pay a lot of money to hear that conversation between Pep and Carrick," a third said.

One joked: "Carrick tapping Pep up for an Assistant role, there."

"Never even felt a derby. No heat. Pep and Carrick hug the highlight for me," said another.

"Was Carrick asking Pep for a job?" quipped a sixth.

Speaking at full-time, Guardiola said: "0-0. They started well after we finished the first half well. We created three or four clear chances, you cannot expect many against a team like United and a good point in the end. It will be a good point in the future.

"United is always a strong team, this is Old Trafford and in a few details they are out of the Champions League. They score when they can run but we controlled them really well.

"It is not a derby, it would be different with the people and maybe they pushed more. It is different every week without the people, the virus is still there, you have to be careful."
