Maurizio Sarri incredibly agreed a return to Chelsea after Frank Lampard's sacking last month, according to reports in Italy.
The Italian was in charge of the Blues after just one season in the 2018/19 season, leaving to join Juventus after achieving Champions League football and a Europa League win.
Sarri left on a sour note, with Chelsea fans unhappy with his style of football.
But according to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato, Stamford Bridge chief Marina Granovskaia wanted the controversial boss to replace Lampard last month.
However, owner Roman Abramovich is said to have vetoed the deal.

“Chelsea, after having dismissed Lampard, wanted the coach back,” Venerato told RAI Sport.
“Marina Granovskaia, in particular, fought for the return of the coach. Sarri had said yes to Chelsea.
“However, Roman Abramovich stopped everything. Sarri’s wife and son are pushing for Maurizio’s return to Naples.”
Sarri left Juventus at the end of last season after continuing the club's stellar run in Serie A.
The Turin outfit's early Champions League exit ultimately led to his short-lived reign.
Sarri now continues to be linked with a return to Napoli, where he enjoyed success before his Chelsea stint.
As for Abramovich's side, they went with Thomas Tuchel after Frank Lampard was axed last month.
The German has hit the ground running in west London, with Chelsea unbeaten since his arrival.
This week's win over Atletico Madrid means Tuchel's men have a strong chance of progressing further in the Champions League.
But the former PSG boss has only been given an 18-month deal by Abramovich - and must prove he can guide the club into the top four.
