Mourinho targets former Man Utd colleague de Gea

Mourinho's Roma ambition

Jose Mourinho was announced as the new boss of AS Roma, and is targeting some big moves this summer.

The Portuguese coach failed to win a trophy with a club for the first time after he was sacked by Tottenham just days before their League Cup final meeting with Man City.

He is now no doubt intent on not letting this happen again, ahead of a second spell in Italy.

There are a number of players whom Mourinho could target, but Italian media sources suggest that, initially, keeping Edin Dzeko will be a priority.

The Bosnian striker has a year left on his current contract. Henrikh Mkhitaryan will see his deal expire this summer, but there is hope he may also stay.

The targets: De Gea, Isco & Trincao

Mourinho is also keen to pillage his former clubs.

Manchester United and Real Madrid, both of whom he once managed, and Barcelona, where he spent time as a young coach, may all be in the sights of the tactician.

David de Gea has struggled for regular game time in Manchester since losing his starting berth to Dean Henderson.

The England international enjoyed an impressive loan spell with Sheffield United last season, and has carried such form back to United, when called upon.

Real Madrid's Isco is in a similar situation to de Gea, having fallen out of favour with Zinedine Zidane, amid a lack of a true no.10 in the Frenchman's plans.

Francisco Trincao at Barca is the most intriguing rumoured target, however. Having only recently arrived from Braga, Trincao has failed to light up the Camp Nou, but remains highly regarded and a fully fledged Portuguese international.

He could therefore depart on loan, to secure regular minutes at a top European club before returning to the Blaugrana.

Nathan Ake is another player said to be in the sights of Mourinho. The Portuguese is keen on the Man City man, whilst competition from Ruben Dias, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte could open the door to a summer exit.
