  • Intro:

Manchester City stay top after a comfortable win over Blackburn in the English Premier League.

Rivals Man United needed a late goal from Ryan Giggs, on the Welshman's 900th appearance for the club, to overcome Norwich.

In a thrilling North London derby, Arsenal came from two goals down to hammer Tottenham 5-2.

    Script:

Round 26 of the English Premier League and where else to start but a sensational North London derby?

Tottenham got off to a flying start, 2-0 up thanks to Louis Saha and Emmanuel Adebayor - the former Arsenal man with a muted celeberation after converting from the spot.

However a Bacary Sagna header and a Robin van persie stunner sent the teams in to the half time break level.

Spurs shuffled the pack hoping to bolster their defence, but the plan backfired.

Tomas Rosicky put the Gunners ahead before a Theo Walcott brace helped Arsenal to end their recent bad run, and embarrass their fiercest rivals in the process.

Spurs' misery was complete when Scott Parker was given his marching orders late on for a second booking.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger thinks they can still overhaul their neighbours.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager:

(Q:Can you finish above Tottenham in the league this season?)

"It is still possible if we keep our run going, yes of course, why not? But you know as much before the game it was impossible, I always said that before the game that it is possible. It will be down to consistency because everybody in the Premier League now can lose points so it is (that way) since the start of the season. They have difficult schedule, we have a difficult schedule but if we continue to play like that, why not?"

Theo Walcott's goals silenced the taunts he suffered from his own supporters in the first half, and Harry Redknapp was supportive of the England winger.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Harry Redknapp, Tottenham Hotspur manager:

(Theo Walcott got stick from the home fans at the start of the game and then he got a standing ovation as he came off the pitch after scoring two goals. What do you make of it?)

"Well that is football isn't it. That's football, people are fickle, but he's a good player, he's a player with real talent. I gave him his debut, you know, as a kid at 17, he is a fantastic talent I think. His run for the third goal was, was it the third goal? I lost track of the goals, when Bale lost it down in the right corner and he's run eighty yards to get on the end of the pass and score."

Meanwhile Manchester City kept up their perfect record at the Etihad Stadium with a 3-0 win over Blackburn.

The enigmatic Mario Balotelli sent them on their way before Sergio Aguero made it two.

Aleksandar Kolarov picked up a second assist when he crossed for Edin Dzeko to cement the win.

City stay top and assistant manager David Platt puts it down to the spirit in the team.

SOUNDBITE (English): David Platt, Manchester City first-team coach

"Do you know what we ... I think there is a belief that we can go into football matches and win games. Because that is what we have done all season. For two-thirds of the season that is what we have done and that is what has got us where we are. So it follows that you have to continue that. You have to show a consistency for the final third of the season and if you do so, you will be there or thereabouts."

Manchester United needed a 92nd minute winner from Ryan Giggs to secure three points against Norwich on the Welshman's 900th appearance for the Red Devils.

Chelsea's poor form was put aside when David Luiz and Didier Drogba put them two up at home to Bolton.

Frank Lampard sealed the 3-0 win, double figures this season for the veteran showing his manager he's still got something to give.

Wolves caretaker boss Terry Connor watched intently as his side visited Newcastle.

Papiss Cisse and jonas Gutierrz put the hosts 2-0 up, but a spirited Wolves fightback saw Matt Jarvis pull one back before Kevin Doyle rescued his struggling side a valuable point.

Elsewhere there were wins for Fulham, Stoke and West Brom, while Wigan were held at home by Aston Villa.

So Giggs' late strike keeps United within touching distance of City, and Arsenal's thumping win has reopened the door on their hopes of finishing above Spurs, while Chelsea too look better placed.

No change at the bottom - Wigan's point not enough to lift them from the foot, one win in ten suggests they may be destined for relegation.
