  • Intro:

The new-look Miami Marlins are beginning the 2012 season with a spring training camp in Jupiter, Florida.

The Marlins, formerly the "Florida" Marlins, have had a complete makeover in the off-season, with a new name, logo, stadium, uniforms, an outspoken new manager and a handful of high-profile and expensive new players.

    Script:

New faces and a new look for the Miami Marlins.

Excitement is building in the Marlins camp as their spring training gets underway in Jupiter, Florida.

Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria made headlines in the off-season by signing Jose Reyes on a six year contract worth 102 million dollars, a club record.

Reyes believes a lot of the newfound energy is down to new manager Ozzie Guillen.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jose Reyes "It's a little bit different. This is a different market. This team has a lot of energy. It's not just me, it comes from the manager. This is the first time I've had a manager like Ozzie with so much energy with the right attitude, a winning attitude. A lot of passion for the game just like me. That's something that every player here is going to enjoy this season."

Guillen celebrated his 29th wedding anniversary on Friday and said the milestone served as an apt comparison to the new-look team he'll manage this year.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ozzie Guillen "It's like you're getting remarried. You've got a new wife.

You try to forget about the old one no matter how bad it was. But everyday you have to make an adjustment. They've got to adjust to me and I've got to do the same to them. Right now we're working it out and it's going very well. I don't think we're going to see any problems as long as the communications is there; the respect, the loyalty and the honesty, that's all you can ask."

Rumours of friction between three-time All Star Hanley Ramirez and new man Reyes over a position change were dismissed on Friday.

So, all seems to be well in camp. The Marlins open their spring training schedule against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.

It will be a good test as the two sides meet again at Marlins park for the first regular game of the season on April the fourth.
