Santos beat city rivals Corinthians 1-0 in Brazil's Paulista on Sunday.

The win moved Santos to within two points of the leaders.

    Script:

It was all smiles for Santos as they played hosts to league leaders Corinthians. The bitter city rivals started the day just 5 points apart.

Neymar got off to a quiet start but managed to work himself a chance in the 36th minute, his shot went wide of the right hand post.

Corinthinians were almost gifted a goal just before half time. Santos keeper Rafael's clearance was blocked by Jorge Henrique but the Santos defence managed to get back to clear the danger. Henrique failing to pounce, with an empty net in front of him.

Corinthians started the second half the brighter side and Jorge Henrique was given far too much room on the right wing. He found Adriano but it looked like it wasn't going to be their day.

It was Santos who took the lead in the 58th minute. A one two by Ibson put him through on goal and he cooly finished - his fourth goal this season.

The home fans went wild knowing a win could move them up to second.

Corinthians had a great chance to equalise in the 72nd minute. But Elton couldn't get a touch to the ball meaning Santos ended Corinthians unbeaten start to the Paulista.
