Milan target early goal at Arsenal

  • Intro:

AC Milan go into the second leg of their UEFA Champions League tie with Arsenal as the hottest of favourites to go through to the quarter-finals.

Leading 4-0 from the first leg, coach Massimiliano Allegri has no intention of taking it easy and said it would be insulting to think that his side are anything other than highly focused on qualifying for the last eight, while Dutch international midfielder Urby Emanuelson is looking for Milan to score early in the game to kill off any hopes, however remote, held by the hosts.

SOUNDBITE: (Italian) Massimiliano Allegri, AC Milan coach

"Well, I think it's obvious it's going to be... even if the result is an important one for us, we know how English football and English teams play, so it's going to be important to have the right approach to the game, with great attention and with a great pace, because I'm sure they are going to try to raise the pace tomorrow and they will try to find a goal, and I think the first six minutes are going to be crucial."

SOUNDBITE: (Italian) Massimiliano Allegri, AC Milan coach

"I would be insulting the team if I thought there was going to be some drop in focus among the (AC Milan) players. When you play in the last 16 of the Champions League, against Arsenal, in London, despite the fact that you won with an imposing result in the first match, I would never expect that my team would think about being more relaxed tomorrow. In football, anything can happen and doesn't always go in the right direction. But I think tomorrow we need to step on the pitch and fight hard for ninety minutes, without thinking about what we did in the first leg."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Urby Emanuelson, AC Milan midfielder

"Yeah, it's always nice to play in England, because with the crowds, it's amazing. It's always full... the English teams, they like to play quick, put pressure (on the opposition)... yeah we are in the advantage, but we don't have to think about the 4-0, we just want to score first and then it will be easier for us to play the game."
