  • Intro:

Barcelona are firm favourites to reach their fifth successive Champions League quarter-final when they take on German side Bayer Leverkusen in their last-16 second leg tie on Wednesday.

The defending champions lead 3-1 from the first leg while Leverkusen are trying to win their first away game in Europe in nearly ten years.||

Barcelona could be forgiven for feeling confident before their Champions League match on Wednesday.

Bayer Leverkusen trail 3-1 after the first leg and it's almost three decades since a club managed to overturn a two-goal deficit at the Nou Camp.

So it's fair to say Barca are comfortably on course to reach the quarter-finals for the fifth successive season.

But coach Pep Guardiola is taking nothing for granted.

APTION: Josep "Pep" Guardiola, coach of FC Barcelona:

"When you let them run like they did during the second half (of the first leg) they are very powerful. They are very strong and tall. In that aspect they are better than us. So we need to stop them from running because that will make us run more. We also run fast but if we set our duel on that we won't have much to do at respect. So we will try to play our game."
SUPERCThe German side are on a good run and beat Bayern Munich 2-0 at the weekend. But their away form is weak and they haven't won on the road in Europe in nearly a decade.

And history's heavily in Barca's favour.

The Spanish champions have won all three last-16 home matches under coach Pep Guardiola.

Sergio Busquets ready for yet another attacking game.

    SOUNDBITE: (Spanish)

SUPERCAPTION: Sergio Busquets, FC Barcelona midfielder:

"We know that we have a very good 1-3 result from the first leg and that Bayer will come here to create chances for them. That is the only way they can make it to the next stage. We have to seize that. They will try to attack the way they did during the second half of the first leg in Germany. And that may result in our favour because we will find more spaces and it will make the game much more open."

Barcelona will be lighting up the Nou Camp on Wednesday night when they play their second leg last sixteen tie against Bayer Leverkusen.
