Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi appeared before the press in Barcelona on Monday (March 12) shortly after becoming the first player to score five goals in a single game in the Champions League against Germany's Bayer leverkusen last week.

During the press conference Messi introduced the latest version of FIFA Street video game and also talked about a new indoor soccer facility that was funded by his own charitable foundation.

The greatest ever? That's what everyone has been discussing since Messi scored five against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League

"I don't play to become the best in history or even the best in the present time. Nothing like that. I play trying to do things right first for the team - either Barcelona or the Argentina - then for the people and lastly for myself."

Modest as well - perhaps he is perfect. Barcelona aren't though - despite playing football that's the envy of the world they are second to Real Madrid in La Liga at the moment.

"The league is very complicated. Ten points behind Real Madrid. There are fewer and fewer games until the end of the season and Real Madrid don't drop points. All we need to do is to win all we can. So if we can get closer to them, then all the better."

Barca coach Pep Guardiola hasn't signed a new contract either which has worried Messi.

"We are just like you awaiting for him to decide whether he will renew or not. We the team, as we've said many times, is for him to stay with us for everybody's sake. First for ours, then for the club's and also for the fans who also want him to stay. But he's the one who must decide."

This season or next - one thing does follow Messi around. Goals - 48 already with 12 in the Champions League. If there's one person who can help turn round a 10 point deficit or persuade a coach to sign a new contract - it's him.
