  • Intro:

The 11th FIM SuperMoto World Championship got underway on Sunday (15th April), with the Italian Grand Prix at Ottobiano, 45 kilometres south-west of Milan.

Deteriorating weather conditions made an uneven course even more treacherous than usual, but over the three scheduled races, Frenchman Thomas Chareyre proved to be the most adaptable rider.

    Script:

It even started well in the wet for Thomas Chareyre- he got to the first corner quickly and even though he did briefly lose the lead in the first of three races in Italy - he eventually crossed the line without a rival in sight

Race two wasn't as kind to Thomas Chareyre. Ivan Lazzarini and Manuo Hermunen hit the front.

Thomas Chareyre was still doing better than his brother though who was stuck in the mud.

Hermunen was eventual winner of race two making up for his disqualification in race one - but Chareyre came second.

In race 3, Hermunen took the first corner again and ended up winning this race two.

But it was the more consistent Chareyre who was crowned overall winner in Italy after his two seconds and a first.
