Just six hours after he arrived in Shanghai on a long flight from London, Didier Drogba arrived at his first press conference looking fully refreshed.

Many have quetioned Drogba's motives for moving to China to play, but the powerful striker reiterated that he was not coming to China for money, and his major interest now is to meet new challenges.

"The money is not really the most important thing because everybody knows that I gave a lot of money to my foundation, and my sponsor deals most of them I gave to my foundation. So, I really didn't come here with the idea of making a lot of money. I come here because it is a completely different challenge than that I have seen in Europe before and that's the idea, to meet the challenges is the big one and that's why I am here."

China has the biggest population in the world - but have only qualified for the World Cup final once - in 2002 when Korea and Japan co-hosted the event.

Corruption has been rampant in Chinese soccer in recent years - and now the central government has launched a campaign to clean up the sport in the country.

Drogba believes Chinese soccer will be back on the right track, once the problems have been dealt by the authorities.

"I think maybe there were some problems but the fact that they put it on the frontline is because they want to stop it. So, it's good for the football I think it's good to stop this because we players, I mean football is our passion so first of all when you come on the pitch, you don't think about losing a game and you always want to win. I think it is good that all these things have been taking care of, so I think we will go to the right now."

One thing is for certain though...Drogba's arrival in China hasn't gone unnoticed!
