Rodgers happy to keep Carroll

  • Intro:

Brendan Rodgers and Andre Villas-Boas speak to the press following Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Tottenham in a pre-season match in Baltimore.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool manager (Q: Have West Ham made a bid for Andy Carroll?)

"Not that I'm aware of. I'll obviously know more when I go back. I think there's been a lot written on Andy but I think that you see him today, he's happy to be here he's worked very well since he's been here. Like I say a lot of things is written about him and I suppose perceived, comments and ideas, but they're all ideas he's still a Liverpool player. He can fit into how I want him to play there's absolutely no question about that and he's happy here, so like for him and all the players if anything ever comes in, then as a football club we'll consider it, but it's not something that, I'm certainly not wishing to push him out the door."

SOUNDBITE: Andre Villas-Boas, Tottenham manager (Q:What did you make of the challenge by Charlie Adam on Gareth Bale?)

"It's a very nasty challenge from Charlie. I think in the end the player is gone, there's nobody that surrounds the situation, you know he comes in from behind on Gareth's ankle. You know I didn't know the previous history between the two, I know now. It's a very, very difficult one to be fair, you know you don't want to end up in a game with Liverpool with ten men."

SOUNDBITE: Andre Villas-Boas, Tottenham manager (Q: Stephen Pienaar is being strongly linked to Everton, what is the latest?)

"You've seen Everton's interest in the player for quite some time and it's made public by their manager and by their players. It's a player that they appreciate so much, you know Steven was involved with us a couple of days and even in the Stevenage game. Excellent player and excellent person, that you know can eventually move on to another club. You know at the moment still a Tottenham player, but you know anything can happen in the next couple of hours."
