SOUNDBITE (Russian) Mansur Isaev, Russian Olympic judo gold medallist:

"I had a clear plan for the gold medal. My coach gave me good direction to achieve the gold. The main idea was that I had to neutralise the main (leading) hand of my competitors."

SOUNDBITE (Russian) Mansur Isaev, Russian Olympic judo gold medallist:

"It was the first gold medal for Russia in 13 years at this weight. It was hard to keep my emotions in check because I myself had to compete in two days... because in this (13-year) period of time we've been together as members of the Russian judo team, we have a close friendship and live like two brothers."
