  • Intro:

Corinthians and Vasco de Gama were left frustrated after playing out a goalless draw in Rio on Sunday.

    Script:

Corinthians travelled to Rio de Janeiro to face second placed Vasco da Gama in Brazil's Serie A.

It was the home side who created the game's first opportunity as William Matheus dribbled past a number of Corinthians defenders into the box before forcing a save from Cassio.

In a quiet first half it took until the 44th minute for Corinthians to create their first opportunity, Douglas missing a glorious chance when he sent his header over the cross bar.

After the break the away side who were again guilty of missing another great chance to break the deadlock. This time it was Jorge Henrique who couldn't finish with the goal at his mercy after Vasco goalkeeper Fernando had spilled a long-range effort

Corinthians kept Vasco under pressure and created chance after chance but still weren't able to break the deadlock.

The last chance of the game fell to the visitors when Corinthians goalkeeper Cassio was caught out but no one from Vasco could take advantage and head the ball into an empty net as the match finished goalless
