Bognor Birdman competition

Wednesday, August 08 2012 by SNTV
  • Intro:

American veteran David Moore won the Leonardo da Vinci class at the International Bognor Birdman competition on Sunday.

    Script:

The seaside was packed at Bognor Regis.

But it wasn't the British sunshine drawing out the crowds on Sunday.

They were there to watch the International Bognor Birdman.

A chance for the great and the good to launch themselves off the pier and into the sea.

    So, a flying fairy.

    A bit of balloon suspension.

    And a couple of fools.

But the Americans trumped the Brits.

David Moore winning with a semi stylish flop.

SOUNDBITE (English): David Moore, winner, Leonardo da Vinci class, International Bognor Birdman:
"I had the best conditions possible, but what I designed my machine for was ten mile per hour headwind. I got it. It didn't work the way I expected it to. But they said I got a glide, which is good."

600 pounds sterling for Moore and a whole lot of pride.
