Venus Williams booked her place in the quarter-finals of the Western & Southern Open on Thursday (August 16) following a straight-sets victory over Italian Sara Errani.
Following two consecutive three-set matches at the start of the Western & Southern Open, Venus Williams had no such trouble during her third round match.
Errani started well against the American but Williams was eager to end this one quickly as she went on to win the first set 6-3.
The 32-year-old was superb in the second set, completing a 6-3 6-0 thrashing of the Italian number seven seed.
Williams is now through to her fourth quarterfinal since coming back from her seven-month illness lay-off, only Sam Stosur stands in her way of making the semis.
