Mika Miyazato and Sydnee Michaels shot 7-under 65 on Friday in 100-degree (Fahrenheit, 37.8 celsius) heat to share the first-round lead by one shot at the LPGA Tour's Safeway Classic in North Plains, Oregon.

The three-day Safeway Classic got underway in sweltering heat at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club on Friday.
Brittany Lincicome produced one of the putts of the day to card an eagle on the ninth to finish in a four way tie for sixth two shots off the pace at five under.
So Yeon Ryu, the Toledo Classic winner last week, was judging the greens nicely as she drained a length putt on the 11th to finish alongside Lincicome , Alison Walshe and Jee Young Lee after shooting rounds of 67.
Top-ranked Yani Tseng carded a two under 70 as the Taiwanese player had an up and down round but her tee shot here at the 16th was a highlight leading to one of her four birdies.
Cristie Kerr, Inbee Park and Pornanong Phatlum were a stroke behind the leaders at 6-under par after their opening rounds.
The leaders Japan's Mika Miyazato and America's Sydnee Michaels each had eight birdies and a bogey during their rounds of 65.
