  • Intro:

The feud between Anton Ferdinand and John Terry continued on Saturday (September 15) when the Queens Park Rangers defender ignored the Chelsea captain in the pre-match handshake before the 0-0 Premier League draw at Loftus Road.\

Afterwards managers Mark Hughes and Roberto di Matteo called for an end to all the handshake drama.

SOUNDBITE (English): Mark Hughes, Queens Park Rangers manager:

"No, no. They (the QPR players) had a discussion (about shaking hands with John Terry) and I was made aware that some were prepared to shake the opposition's hand and some weren't. I did not know which individuals were involved in that so I didn't push the point, to be honest.

(Question - it was a personal choice?)

Yeah, yeah. It was a personal choice of each and every one of them."

SOUNDBITE (English): Roberto di Matteo, Chelsea manager:

"I think we should shift the focus onto the football side. I think we are all here for the 90-95 minutes that are played between two teams and that should be the focus and not the handshake before and the handshake after."

SOUNDBITE (English): Mark Hughes, Queens Park Rangers manager:

"I thought the game was the important thing today and, thankfully, it was a game that was played in good spirit. It was very competitive as you might imagine and we are pleased with our performance. Chelsea know they had to perform today to stay in the game. So I would imagine that they will be pleased with the point they have gained. So I think it is proof that we are going in the right direction. It is only a matter of time before we get three points on the board and then we can really build our season."

SOUNDBITE (English): Roberto di Matteo, Chelsea manager:

"I have to say that both sets of players have shown a great attitude this afternoon. They focused on the football. They showed how professional they are and they played the game in the right spirit. And it was a good derby to watch."
