The Algarve is great, especially for a cheeky holiday. But it's also great for this - rally racing.

The third and final day got underway with Sebastien Ogier holding a 34.8 second advantage over his Volkswagen team mate Jari-Matti Latvala.

He suffered clutch problems early on during stage 12 but managed to get back up to full speed during the longest stage of the rally - the 52.3 kilometre SS 13 Almodovar.

Latvala was not able to recover as well as Ogier though after breaking a driveshaft at the start of the day.

He had to nurse his Polo R through with just rear wheel drive.

The Finn dropped over three minutes of time to allow Mikko Hirvonen to storm into second place overall.

The Citroen driver has closed the gap on Ogier to 49.3 seconds with two stages remaining.
