After overcoming a technical scare earlier on the final day, Sebastien Ogier made no mistake on the home stretch at the Rally of Portugal.

The Volkswagen Polo R driver - who had also been suffering from a virus - completed a comfortable victory, winning the final SS15 Power Stage to finish 52.8 seconds ahead of Mikko Hirvonen.

Volkswagen's hopes of making it a one-two on the podium were ruined with a broken driveshaft for Jari-Matti Latvala early on Sunday.

The Finn had to settle for third place over three minutes behind Hirvonen's Citroen and fourth place went to Russian Evgeny.

The third win in a row stretches Ogier's lead at the top of the world championship standings to 54 points over Hirvonen.

Joy then on the podium - but let's be honest boys, that's just a waste of perfectly good champagne !
